Putman Properties, Inc., was formed in 1985 for the purposes of acquiring, managing, and selling Commercial/Industrial real estate. Company President, Timothy J. Putman, was joined in 1986 by Wick Hartung, who became Vice President of Sales and Leasing. One of the first responsibilities of Putman Properties, Inc., was the renovation, management, and leasing of the former five (5) building 1,000,000 sq.ft. Babcock & Wilcox facility located on 60 acres on Raff Road, off Rt. 30, in Canton, Ohio. This success led to the management operations growth and the Company's focus became the acquisition, renovation, leasing and sales of existing and new construction commercial/industrial facilities. Putman Properties, Inc. has been responsible for the renovation and development of over 3,000,000 sq.ft. of such buildings.
As Putman Properties, Inc. grew, we recognized an opportunity to evolve from property management into the real estate brokerage business. In 1989, the company acquired a broker's license and sales and leasing activity grew rapidly. The listings and sales of Putman Properties, Inc. have grown every year since its inception. The company has broadened its scope from industrial into all commercial properties including office, retail, apartments, and investments. While the scope of Putman Properties, Inc. has grown, the company's focus remains locked on its niche, commercial and industrial real estate.
Putman Properties, Inc. moved in 1998 into new headquarters on Munson Street (Belden Village) in Stark County, Ohio. We are very active in Portage, Summit, Tuscarawas, Wayne, Cuyahoga, and Mahoning counties. We received the Co-Star Power Brokerage designation for 2002.
Putman Properties, Inc. is also a real estate developer. The company through related ownership started in the 1990's acquiring properties and renovating them for use by such tenants as the Timken Company, the United States Army Reserve, Folgers Coffee, Federal Express, Martin-Marietta Corporation, Controlled Power Corporation, and many others. The Management division maintains over 1,000,000 sq.ft. of buildings with over 100 tenants. Putman Properties, Inc. has also listed, leased, or sold properties for Coca Cola Bottling, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Lubrizol Corporation, K-Mart, & General Electric Corporation.
Putman Properties, Inc. took on the challenge of the construction of new facilities for $4.5 million worth of Federal Express facilities and Canton, Ohio and Morgantown, West Virginia. These were successfully built and sold to investors. In 1998, Putman Properties, Inc., completed a $2 million acquisition and renovation for a titanium processing plant in Canton, Ohio, for Galt Alloys, Inc., a subsidiary of R.M.I., Youngstown, Ohio. In 1999, we listed, sold, renovated, and leased a former Coca Cola warehouse to US Ceramic Tile. Today Putman Properties, Inc. continues to serve the real estate needs of Corporate America in a variety of value added services.
