Tim Putman, native of Massillon, Ohio, is the President of Putman Properties, Inc. and a licensed Ohio Real Estate Broker. He is also a practicing attorney specializing in real estate titles, contracts and leases. Tim graduated in 1972 from Washington High School in Massillon, Ohio, in 1977 from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and received a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 1984. Tim was licensed to practice law in May of 1985 and has been a practicing attorney in Canton since that time in conjunction with his work at Putman Properties, Inc.
While still in college, Tim began working for the Ohio House of Representatives. After his graduation, he worked for one year in public accounting and rejoined the Ohio Legislature serving for two years in the Senate as an Administrative Assistant to the Ohio Senate Assistant Minority Leader.
In 1979, Tim moved back to his Stark County home and assumed responsibilities as Vice President of the Canton Industrial Parks, Ltd. The Canton Industrial Parks and other office, industrial and commercial buildings were owned by local entrepreneurs. His responsibilities included sale and leasing of those facilities. While attending law school at night and working as Vice President of the Canton Industrial Parks, Tim also assumed the duties as Governmental and Public Affairs Officer for SunOhio, Inc. His responsibilities required him to secure State and Federal regulatory permits for the hazardous waste treatment process for the destruction of PCB's, Poly-Chlorinated Biphenyls.
Putman Properties, Inc. was formed in 1985 by Tim for the purpose of investing and managing real estate. Putman Properties, Inc. originally found its niche in the market in purchasing, renovating, leasing, managing and selling large industrial complexes. As President of Putman Properties, Inc. he has worked with such Fortune 500 Companies as the Timken Company, Folgers Coffee, Martin-Marrieta, Siemens-Allens and others.
Tim was responsible for putting together the largest commercial transaction in downtown Canton in the last twelve (12) years. Tim sold to Stark County the Citizens Building and simultaneously procured $6.5 million in grants from the local foundations to renovate the Stark County Courthouse. Putman Properties, Inc. handled the initial management and transition of the County from its former office building to its new office location and $3 million worth of renovations to that facility. This total project was approximately $18 million dollars.
Putman Properties, Inc. has a long history of community involvement corporately and among its employees. He is currently a member of board of Canton Tomorrow, Inc., a community organization focusing on downtown Canton redevelopment and the Canton Cultural Center for the Arts. He was the 2004 Chairman of the Stark County Fund for the Arts, a million dollar campaign for local arts organizations. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the North Canton Medical Foundation. Tim was a 1987-1988 graduate of Leadership Canton, Past Chairman of the United Way Construction Division, one of four task force leaders of the Canton Chamber of Commerce, Canton City Government Citizens Oversight Committee. Tim is also a past chairman of the City and County Affairs Committee of the Greater Canton Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Stark County Board of Realtors, The Ohio Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors and the Stark County Bar and American Bar Associations. He is a thirteen (13) year recipient of the OAR President's Sales Club Awards of Achievement and Excellence. He and his wife live at 1486 Alexandria Parkway, Canton, Ohio. They have two children.
